Invitation (Jackie)

This invitation incorporates the importance of Jackie Kennedy, and how attending this party would give one a glimpse at how she was so much more than a Mother, First Lady, and Star of a film. The party will take place on July 28, 2018 because that is Jackie Kennedys birthday. The invitation also includes "Dinner, Drinks, and Entertainment." I included "entertainment," because while the Kennedys were at the White House it became the "cultural center of the nation." The Kennedys were the first to host musicians, artists, and writers at the White House.

Guest List:

Jacqueline B Kennedy
Jackie Kennedy would be the most valuable guest to have attend this party. Jackie Kennedy was the wife of the nations 35th president,  John F. Kennedy. Jackie worked hard to be worthy of her role as the first lady. She wanted to bring more history to the White House, so she brought in historical pieces and made many renovations. The film "Jackie" depicted her often as self conscious and nervous of what people might think of her. For example, in the film she often made comments such as, "they think i'm a fool.. one year in office wasting their money." However, many believe her passion for history and the arts are what made her an exceptional first lady. Jackie was so much more than the first lady and the star of a film, and "While she had a deep sense of obligation to her country, her first priorities were to be a good wife to her husband and mother to her children" (source). Having the ability to talk to Jackie in person would provide insight on what she was truly like, and if the film portrayed her correctly. Not only would everyone enjoy her company, they would have the chance to hear her "side of the story" and find new perspectives on the events which took place before, during, and after President John F. Kennedy's assassination.

John F. Kennedy
It would be an honor to have the 35th president of the United States, John F. Kennedy, present at this dinner party. Kennedy's time in the White House was cut short, but many do not realize just how much he accomplished throughout his life. Kennedy graduated from Harvard University, where his senior essay, While England Slept, became a best selling book. Shortly after enlisting in the Navy, the ship he was commanding sunk, and he heroically saved the people on it. Kennedy served three terms in the House of Representatives. In 1952 he defeated Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. and won a seat in the senate. In 1960 he beat Richard Nixon in the presidential race, and became the youngest president to ever be elected. Many believe "Kennedy brought a refreshing vigor, intelligence, and style to the presidency" (source). Kennedy inspired Americans to do better in his inaugural speech when he stated "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" (source). His experiences and past could provide so much knowledge to another. Kennedys attendance would be a great addition to the party, because of his experiences and knowledge. He would also provide the best point of view on the events that took place the day of his assassination. John F. Kennedy knew Jackie the best, therefore he could help one to understand who she really was, and aid in portraying her character admirably.

Bobby Kennedy
Of course Bobby would have an invite to the party! He had always been a good friend to Jackie Kennedy, especially after John F. Kennedys death. He understood what Jackie was going through, and was always understanding of the choices (sometimes outrageous) she made after her husbands death. He came to visit Jackie and the kids often, and the kids loved him. It seemed as though Bobby had almost stepped in as the father role for his brothers kids. I would love for him to come, and be there for Jackie. Perhaps Bobby knew how Jackie had acted and felt the most after her husband had died, and would truly help her character, Natalie Portman, play her the to the best of her ability. And of course he would help Peter Sarsgaard, the man who played him in the film "Jackie" to fully grasp his own character.

Nancy Tuckerman
Nancy Tuckerman was a long time friend of Jackie, and had known her the longest. She would be a great invite to the party, because she had been with Jackie since she was in High School, and had seen how she had changed and grown throughout the years. Nancy was there for Jackie before, during, and after Kennedys death, and would tremendously aid in fully understanding how she had acted, to portray Jackie's character perfectly in the film. It would also be beneficial for her to talk to Greta Gerwig, to help her fully understand her character and role in the film.

Theodore H. White
Theodore White was a journalist, famous for many things. One of them being his exclusive interview with Jackie Kennedy in the aftermath of her husband’s assassination. He wrote an article where he compared the short-lived presidency of John F. Kennedy with the legend of Camelot. His presence and insight on Jackie would be a tremendous help to the making of the film.

Natalie Portman (Jackie)
Natalie Portman is a key actress to invite. It would be extremely useful for her to get the chance to hear from the people who knew her character, Jackie, the best. And although Natalie played Jackie's character almost perfect, she would gain much knowledge just from speaking with Jackie Kennedy.

Peter Sarsgaard (Bobby Kennedy)
I would love for Peter to attend, because the character he plays, Bobby Kennedy, is also attending the Party. Bobby Kennedy has a lot of insight, and would help Peter to fully grasp who he was and how to play his character perfectly.

Greta Gerwig (Nancy T.)
Greta's character, Nancy, was one of Jackie's closest friends and therefore played a major role in the film "Jackie," and in Jackie's life. It would be a great opportunity for Greta to get to speak with Nancy and see with her own eyes what she was really like, and what her relationship with Jackie Kennedy was like.

Billy Crudup (Journalist)
While Billy played a major role in the film Jackie, his name was never quite mentioned in the film. Throughout the movie he interviewed Jackie Kennedy, and learned a lot about who she was after her husbands death, and the legacy she wanted to hold for him. It would be really cool for Billy, Theodore's character,  to get to ask Jackie questions of his own. He would also have the ability to speak with Theodore and gain knowledge on the character he was playing, to have the ability to play his role exquisitely.
